Can you design your Day and Destiny?

Yes, you can! You have to have desire and drive! It may be difficult to believe; but then ask one question to yourself – who determines and decides your day and destiny? If you think it is all predetermined, then it is sheer perception, not a reality. If you imagine that there are invisible forces or hands deciding these, it is imaginary. There are no evidences of such forces or hands in the Universe. Also, how many of these would be required to decide day and destiny of billions of people on this planet? Then, destiny is not applicable to human race alone; it is ought to be for all living beings from microbes to mammals! The number would then run into something that we have no clue!!

Further, what is the interest of anything external to you to tinker with your day and destiny? May be that one could argue that your lovers and bete noires are interested parties. But, if they can influence your day and destiny, then you must be also be able influence theirs! Sometimes, you feel your boss decides your career and hence your destiny. This is a very parochial view! A boss would normally decide depending upon your performance and potential. Even if he does not, how long can he/she deny what you deserve? If he does and you stick around, then problem actually lies with you and hence your design!

The truth is that your day and destiny is a direct result of what you are or what you think and do!!

Designing your day means getting immediate results and that for destiny means ultimate results.

Twelve Titanic & Universal Rules for designing your Day & Destiny

  1. The way you start would be the most probable way you would end!
So, anything that you start, do it with full conviction and confidence, ownership and optimism.
  2. Set your ultimate goals, what you want to be or wish to accomplish in your life.
To begin with do not make these as your hard notions, since you may not know how much these would need to be adjusted. So, keep your notions soft and be inclined to modify as you navigate forward.
  3. Before you end your day, decide what incremental steps you would take next day to move in direction of your goals.
    Repeat this every day.
  4. On waking up next day, remember and reiterate above steps in your mind.
Remember, your 1st one hour of the day is crucial, when you need to remain excited and focused on these steps.
  5. If there are doubts or worries in your mind, do not ignore. Counter and conclude.
Always believe that if there is a problem, there has to be a solution. You need to seek the same; it is not possible that you would not get it.
If frame of your mind is positive, you would necessarily get positive results.
  6. Never be in a rush; it never helps.
Rush actually represents confused state of mind with more than one thought simultaneously!
If you are falling short of time, decide consciously what activity you can cut down and do that with no regrets.
  7. Never react or resist to a given situation.
Hold for a while and respond consciously.
  8. State of your mind would determine shape of things to happen next!
If you are hopeful, your hopes would strengthen with things happening for you. If you in despair, you are bound to be disappointed with turn of events!
So, weave this law in your design/work.
  9. Never alienate anyone; instead seek alignment!
This would help you to use your time gainfully.
  10. Believe what you see or experience; but only register what you hear!
It would keep you free from fears and suspicions.
  11. Multiple thoughts at a time or multitasking cause kind of damage, you seldom realize!
Conflicts (in your mind) or confusion created are a result of above. Factually, you can’t think or do more than one thing at a time! If you attempt, which most do, it becomes source of your frustration or failure.
  12. If you don’t get desired results from your design, your direction is not right!
Never feel discouraged or distressed. It can happen with anyone. Be agile to re-align until you get results.

Above rules are results of extensive research. Let there be no illusion about quality of your efforts for the design; only way to judge the quality is by results. If results are good, quality of your efforts is good and vice versa, if bad!

When Nature has empowered you, what can hold you back to execute your power to plan and develop your Day & Destiny??

I do believe that there’s nothing called ‘Destiny’. You are your own creator and destroyer… which is what I think this very post of yours summarizes.

The 12 points/rules you have mentioned are quite straight-forward and complement each other pretty well… surely worth to give a try!!

    Thanks for sharing!

    Cheers! 🙂

    Dear Mr. Lohia,

This is easily one of your best and most inspiring posts!! I had read it when you originally wrote it a couple of months ago and had saved it to read again..

I am in complete agreement with your views. I do believe that a man’s destiny is entirely in his own hands! Positive and optimistic thinking, firm decision making and affirmative actions are the principal factors that govern the end results of any endeavor. The word “ownership” used by you, too, has a very deep meaning and needs to be understood well by all of us. And if there’s one single factor that determines the ultimate success of anything attempted, it is Quality, as you so rightly mention in your concluding lines!!

I love your analysis of human response and behavior, which you express in the most simple and lucid words!! You really must put together all these posts into a book – would be much valued by young people entering the corporate world!

    Thanks again and Warm Regards,
    Harish Alwani

Your views and analysis are very relevant and true. Your conviction that “your destiny is your hands” must be already shaping it for you, I believe.

I am grateful for your advise for the book; as a matter of fact I do wish to integrate these posts in future in a book! Thanks again!!
